Is Meaningful Work a Stronger Predictor of Innovation Than Transformational Leadership?

Purpose: Innovation is recognised as a key driver of business and economic growth. However, many organisations struggle to implement or encourage innovation successfully. A number factors, including the demonstration transformational leadership, have been examined in encouraging behaviour among employees. ‘Meaningful work’ seen an additional factor influencing but has received little attention this field. Design: Drawing on both emerging body research meaningful work leading model creativity organisations, exploratory study 100 Australian adult employees investigated predictive value leadership behavior.Findings: Results showed that was positively correlated with, predicted, innovation, while did not contribute innovative behaviour. Implications:This finding implications for fostering by helping them better understand impact could their objectives.Originality:This one first studies examining relationship between work, population employed adults.
